8 Vibe Coded Mods That Are Changing the Game

It's here, folks. AI in video games has always been present, but now, it's making games on its own and even altering previous games we've known and loved in simply outrageous ways. You can hate it, you can bemoan it, but as long as it stays a tool to use and not a replacement for humans entirely, I think this could be something really special.

In the past two months, Vibe Coding has gone completely nuts, with VR games popping up left and right, and now flat-screen games are getting that same treatment. We've seen some incredible feats pulled off using Vibe Coding lately, and while not all of them are super polished, the day when they feel like a natural part of the game they're in is coming soon.

Let's check out some of the best Vibe Coded mods out there right now.

8 Final Fantasy VII: Remake

Saving the Planet with a Friend

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Fighting Action Adventure FX Wiki Wiki Released April 10, 2020 ESRB t Developer(s) Square Enix Publisher(s) Square Enix Engine Unreal Engine 4 Franchise Final Fantasy Platform(s) PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Genre(s) Fighting, Action, Adventure OpenCritic Rating Mighty

Final Fantasy VII: Remake introduced a real-time action combat system where you could switch between any character in your party, and it felt like something that fit the series so well. You know what else would fit that system as well? Co-op ability, and while Square Enix never got around to it, the Vibe Coding world has figured out the way, and already, we've got the blossoming of an incredible experience.

Thanks to a Reddit user, we've already got access to a rough beginning to a multiplayer mod in a full-fledged Final Fantasy game. This is something that we just don't really see in this series, and honestly, it fits perfectly. While some particulars aren't working great so far, the bones are there, so really just some fine-tuning is needed, and we will be cooking in Midgar in no time at all.

7 Morrowind

Upgrades

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind RPG GGMods Mods Released May 1, 2002 ESRB T For Teen due to Blood, Violence Developer(s) Bethesda Game Studios Publisher(s) Bethesda Softworks Engine Gamebryo Franchise The Elder Scrolls Platform(s) PC, Xbox (Original) Genre(s) RPG How Long To Beat 45 Hours X|S Optimized No File Size Xbox Series 1 GB (November 2023)

So there are some cool uses of Vibe Coded mods, and then there are absolute game changers like the one we have here. What this mod does is put Elden Ring's combat, in its entirety, into the game Morrowind. Morrowind is a game that's over 20 years old, and while it still has plenty of fans that defend it as the best in the series to this day, it is no secret that the combat sucks. It just never works as well as you want it to, and, despite customization of spells and a ton of RPG goodness, fighting is never all that fun in the game.

Until now, because with this mod, which was heavily AI-assisted as the creator makes clear, the combat is now fantastic. It somehow adapts Elden Ring's style perfectly into the wondrous world of Morrowind, creating a game that, in many ways, is now perfect. That's the power that Vibe Coding has. So many times we're like, "Well, imagine if X game had M's combat?. With these Vibe Coded mods, it seems like that scenario is becoming more real every day.

6 Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

A Human-Like Enemy

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy FPS Third-Person Shooter Hack and Slash Released September 16, 2003 ESRB T For Teen: Violence Developer(s) Raven Software Publisher(s) LucasArts, Activision Engine id Tech 3 Multiplayer Local Multiplayer, Online Multiplayer Franchise Star Wars Steam Deck Compatibility Unsupported Platform(s) Windows, macOS, Xbox (Original), Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam Genre(s) FPS, Third-Person Shooter, Hack and Slash How Long To Beat 10 Hours OpenCritic Rating Fair

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is an awesome Star Wars game that has some of the best multiplayer a Star Wars game has seen, but the problem is that the game is over 20 years old, and while you can play with bots, they just don't feel human. They don't perform intricate maneuvers; they don't react properly in specific game mode situations, and overall, they just don't really feel as engaging to fight against.

That's where this mod solves the issue beautifully. It essentially puts human AI into the bots in the game, making it seem like you're playing against actual people. The bots can now play Capture the Flag, or whatever game modes you're looking for, and you'll never know the difference. Combat encounters are now more natural-feeling, with the bots using advanced techniques, wall running, and utilizing the environment, and it's almost impossible to discern whether you're playing against a bot or a person. It has revived this game in a really unique way, and you should definitely check it out.

5 Batman: Arkham Knight

The Red and Blue in Gotham

Batman: Arkham Knight Action Released June 23, 2015 ESRB M for Mature: Blood, Language, Suggestive Themes, Violence Developer(s) Rocksteady Studios Publisher(s) Warner Bros. Games Engine Unreal Engine 3 Franchise Batman Platform(s) PS4, Xbox One, PC Genre(s) Action How Long To Beat 17 Hours X|S Optimized No File Size Xbox Series 47 GB (November 2023) Metascore 87 PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium OpenCritic Rating Mighty

Batman: Arkham Knight is one of the more underrated games in the franchise, and these days, it looks just about as good as any triple-A release. One thing that has always been amazing about the game is the traversal, letting you explore Gotham for the first time really, and now with a very unique vibe-coded mod, you can do it in a whole different way. Spider-Man can now be played in the game, and not just as a skin, but with the entire web-swinging mechanics for the Insomniac Games in full function.

Now, the combat isn't exactly well suited for the Arkham world just yet, but it's an in-progress mod, and it remains an absolutely wild experience to essentially see another game within a game. Just that idea alone opens up possibilities that really haven't even been approached yet. It will likely require some serious file tweaking to get things like this working without crashing and other issues, but it's a cool thing to see in action, even if the implementation isn't perfect just yet.

4 Elden Ring

Bringing Guns to a Sword Fight

Fextralife

Ever been playing Elden Ring and just think, " God, I wish I had a gun just to shoot the damn Tree Knight in the face"? Well, now you can do exactly that, along with having the sharp overall mechanics from the legendary Counter-Strike 2. This mod allows you to put one game into another, creating a hilarious combination of legendary experiences that is way more fun than it has any right to be. Guns, grenades, you name it, it's here from Counter-Strike 2.

All of a sudden, the brutal challenges of Elden Ring become something of a joke, as you have arrived from another world packing ammo and explosives that the beasts of the Limgrave and terrors of the Haligtree just can't possibly hope to contend with. It's more of a gimmicky mod for sure, and a hell of a fun way to lower the difficulty in a game that loads up on challenges for you to overcome. Call this the unofficial easy mode mod, because nothing has a chance against you when you're wielding automatics.

3 Age of Empires II

New Civilizations

Age of Empires 2 Real-Time Strategy Released September 27, 1999 ESRB T For Teen // Mild Blood, Mild Language, and Violence Developer(s) Ensemble Studios Publisher(s) Microsoft, Konami Engine Genie Engine Multiplayer Online Multiplayer Franchise Age of Empires Platform(s) PC, PlayStation 2 Genre(s) Real-Time Strategy How Long To Beat 80 Hours X|S Optimized Yes OpenCritic Rating Mighty File Size Xbox Series 28 GB (November 2023)

Age of Empires II is one of the all-time real-time strategy games, and while there have been sequels since, not one of them captures the magic and feeling of a big war that Age of Empires II once did. With AI mods now, there is a whole other world opened up within this game. That world is the one of custom-made civilizations. While the choices for who to fight as in the game are numerous to begin with, there are obviously ones that have been left out, but now, with you and an AI assistant, you can see those civilizations come to life.

One of those new civilizations is The San Franciscans. Probably not the civilization you'd think would fit into this game, but that's kind of the magic with these vibe-coded mods. They take things that shouldn't be and make them real, for better or worse. Here, you get a modern-day civilization in Age of Empires II, and, of course, it's utterly ridiculous, but it's really just an example of what you can do to this game. It seems like you can dream up any era within the confines of this game's brilliant RTS systems and go to war with them. Hate on AI all you want, but that fact is pretty damn cool if you ask me.

2 Slay the Spire 2

A Helper in Dire Times

Slay the Spire II Strategy Roguelike Digital Card Game Released March 5, 2026 ESRB e Developer(s) Mega Crit Publisher(s) Mega Crit Multiplayer Online Co-Op Prequel(s) Slay the Spire Number of Players 1-4 players Steam Deck Compatibility Verified Early Access Release March 5, 2026 Platform(s) PC Genre(s) Strategy, Roguelike, Digital Card Game How Long To Beat 5 hours

Slay the Spire 2 is an excellent Rogue-like that takes everything that made the first game great and upped the production value and the challenge to create something just as much, if not more, addictive. But it's a lot to juggle, with your different cards, different effects, and tons of enemy types to deal with. Some people want to experience the game, but in a bit of an easier way, and for that, we've got an awesome mod to help us.

Spire Buddy can help you figure out enemy move patterns, explain the rules of the game to you, give you unique strategies to employ, help you decide what attacks to use, help you evaluate your chances of success on any given turn, and pretty much any other type of knowledge assist you can think of. Rogue-likes get very stressful when a run is on the verge of coming to an end, and this assistant limits that anxiety by having an expert in the game with you. You can turn it off at any time, but it's like having a strategy guide within the game almost. It's a fascinating idea and one of the best AI implementations I've seen in a game.

1 Spider-Man: Remastered

Wear the Suit

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Action-Adventure Open-World Released November 12, 2020 ESRB T For Teen Due To Blood, Drug Reference, Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, Violence Developer(s) Insomniac Games Publisher(s) Sony Interactive Entertainment Engine Proprietary Engine Franchise Marvel's Spider-Man Platform(s) PC, PS5 Genre(s) Action-Adventure, Open-World How Long To Beat 18 Hours Metascore 87 PS Plus Availability Extra & Premium OpenCritic Rating Mighty

Spider-Man: Remastered is a fantastic game in its own right, but thanks to some incredible work done here, we're now in the shoes of Peter Parker ourselves. That's right, Spider-Man VR. While we had a VR experience with Spider-Man years ago, it was not remotely on the level of what we're dealing with here. Manual web-slinging, combat, and just the freedom to explore New York City via the rooftops is something so incredible it's hard to put into words.

It's a revolutionary experience and feels like something we should've had way sooner. But that's the magic of the Vibe Coded mod. Do you have an idea? Some patience? Some time? Then you can create the idea you've got just like these people are doing. The combat here is definitely on the weaker side of the experience due to you really only being able to punch, so the spectacular athletics of Spider-Man are kind of lost in this experience; however, there is surely more to come with this mod.
